NAIAS 2014: Chevy Wins Car and Truck of the Year Awards
Chevy swept the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards with their Corvette Stingray and Silverado.
Congratulations to Chevy for taking home both awards. A jury of 49 automotive journalists awarded the Stingray 211 points, beating out the Mazda3 with 185 and Cadillac CTS with 94. Two new Corvettes were unveiled here in Detroit, the Z06 street legal supercar, and the C7.R race car.
The Silverado took home Truck of the Year by a slightly greater margin, gathering 219 points to beat the Jeep Cherokee with 174 and Acura MDX with 97. We can’t wait to get our hands on a High Country.
If you make it to the Cobo Center, don’t forget to check out the SS hiding upstairs above the Chevy booth.
There are a couple Chevy Indy cars upstairs too, driven by Tony Kanaan and Helio Castroneves.
The 2015 Chevy Colorado (and related GMC Canyon) represent welcome additions to the compact truck market. A diesel engine is on the way, but unfortunately it will not be available until 2016.
