NAIAS 2016: BMW
The BMW M2 finally made its debut in Detroit. The rear-wheel coupe will be powered by a 3.0 turbocharged inline-6 good for 365 horsepower. It will come with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT. Starting price is $51,700 and it will be available this spring.
Also making its debut was the slightly-less anticipated X4 M40i. While it does not receive the full M treatment, it does get some aggressive style upgrades and a new 355 horsepower engine good for a 4.7-second 0-60 time. This “sports activity coupe” starts at $57,800.
Plug-in hybrids were also on display. The 330e starts at $44,695 and will arrive this spring. It uses a turbo 4-cylinder and an electric motor good for a total of 248 horsepower. It can travel up to 22 miles in all-electric mode. The 740e utilizies a similar powertrain good for 326 total horsepower; it arrives this summer.
It is always nice to see interior colors other than black. The X6M below had a beautiful tan interior, while the X5 was showing off a luxurious brown leather theme.
