NAIAS 2014: Ford Takes Over Cobo
Ford’s display at Cobo Center was by far the largest of all automakers attending the Detroit show. The headliner was the all-new 2015 F-150, and their show floor was so large, they even brought in an assembly line to show the F-150 in various stages of production. With over 66,000 square feet of floor space, they still had plenty of room to give the Mustang a prominent display as well.
NAIAS 2014: Nissan Concepts
The Nissan Sport Sedan Concept made its world debut in Detroit, while the IDx NISMO and IDx Freeflow made their North American debuts. The orange sedan contains a 3.5L V6 and hints strongly of the next Maxima.
NAIAS 2014: Toyota has Colorful Concepts
Between the red FT-1, blue FCV, and color-changing FV2, Toyota’s concept vehicles were full of color. Making the biggest waves was the FT-1, Toyota’s newest concept that is literally straight out of a video game.
NAIAS 2014: Subaru Introduces 2015 WRX STI
The 2015 Subaru WRX STI made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The 305 horsepower 2.5L turbocharged boxer four-cylinder engine is exclusive to the STI and will only available as a 4-door sedan with 6-speed manual.
NAIAS 2014: Mercedes-Benz
Several new Mercedes models were on display in Detroit, including their 2015 C-Class Sedan, GLA 45 AMG, and new S-Class. The biggest seller will likely be the new C-Class, which will hit dealerships this fall.
NAIAS 2014: Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge
The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge concept was revealed in Detroit to much fanfare. Taking the standard Q50 and turning it up to eleven, Infiniti is attempting to connect the high-performance sedan to its Formula 1 branch by stating the Red Bull RB9 was part of its design inspiration.
NAIAS 2014: Porsche 911 Targa Debuts in Detroit
The Porsche booth in Detroit was full of silver vehicles, except for a select few that were the highlight of the show. Making its world debut was the new 911 Targa. Offered only with all-wheel drive, the Targa 4 and 4S are said to be available this summer with a six-figure base price.
NAIAS 2014: Kia GT4 Stinger Concept, K900 Sedan on Display
Kia revealed their GT4 Stinger Concept for the first time in Detroit. While it is only a concept with no plans of production, it does hint that a rear-drive sports car may be on the way. The Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S are likely to be its main competitors if/when it gets made, likely still a few years away.
NAIAS 2014: GMC Canyon Revealed in Detroit
The GMC Canyon was revealed at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Along with the new Chevy Colorado, the new entries to the midsize pickup truck market will go on sale this fall as 2015 models.
NAIAS 2014: Honda Fit Refresh
The 2015 Fit made its debut in Detroit, and Honda says it has been completely redesigned. With a longer wheelbase, but shorter overall length, the new Fit is said to be roomier than ever, and it will include some impressive tech.
