NAIAS 2016: Lincoln
Riding the Matthew McConaughey wave, Lincoln has greatly increased its profile in the automotive world. The MKC small crossover has been especially hot for the brand, but the Lincoln sedans come up short when compared with rivals. Perhaps the 2017 Lincoln Continental that has been unveiled at this year’s show will change that.
Quiet Luxury is the stated theme, and it seems to fit well. The new design is subtle yet still manages a strong presence, helped no doubt by its massive size. It should be available this summer with prices starting under $50k, but expect the 400 horsepower all-wheel drive model to be a tad higher.
An updated MKZ was recently revealed. The new 2017 model received a distinct new front end similar to the one the new Continental now wears. It should be available this summer, and just like the Continental, an all-wheel drive version with 400 horsepower is expected a bit later.
The MKX Black Label Thoroughbred offers maple wood trim and matching contrast stitching. The marketing seems a bit stuffy for the Black Label program, but it comes with some nice perks such as an extended maintenance plan, free car washes, and even some complimentary meals.
